Oct. 16, 5:30-7:30pm:

Bridging the French Broad – Creating connected and livable > communities

Join us for a web presentation by Joe Minicozzi, principle of Urban3 and co-founder of the Asheville Design Center as he discusses the role of the citizen in Asheville in a highway design project in Asheville. Join the meeting:

Joe will discuss how a small group of volunteer architects, landscape architects, planners and community activists marshaled a community effort to produce their own highway design alternative for a North Carolina DOT project.  He will go through the community design process, the proposed solution, and the process of community advocacy and politics in Asheville as well as the final results.  Joe will also go into the wins and losses; and share a very entertaining story of a medium sized city struggling with growth issues; a community trying to maintain and reinforce its sense of place in a project process that typically favors tedium and placelessness.

This event is co-organized with VOICE Omaha and the YP Transportation and Community Development committee.

Oct. 26, 8:00-9:00am:
