Vision Zero Plan out & Vote 11/14

Omaha Vision Zero Action Plan cover page says Vision Zero Omaha: Ending Traffic Deaths. Action Plan. Includes icons of pedestrian, bike, car.

Reposting notice of Tuesday 11/14 Omaha City Council vote, now that the Omaha Vision Zero Action Plan (VZAP) is public. Just seeing the VZAP, it looks good with great data & maps, a foundation in the Safe Systems approach, and recommendations to reduce injuries and deaths including roundabouts, improved signage/markings, Safe Routes to School programs, prioritized Capital Improvements Plan (CIP), and more! Many of these are actions that Mode Shift Omaha (MSO) has advocated for the City to do, so MSO is excited to support the VZAP!

The Omaha City Council will vote on a resolution to adopt the Vision Zero Action Plan (VZAP)  in the City Council meeting on Tuesday November 14. The meeting starts at 2pm. From the public events and information shared by Vision Zero Omaha, it seems like the plan will be good. You should be able to access the City Council meeting agenda and related materials here, once materials are posted.

  1. You can just show up in person and speak on an agenda item
  2. You can speak virtually via Zoom (see instructions below)
  3. You could submit written testimony in support to the City Clerk at: cityclerk@cityofomaha.org (also feel free to include your Councilmember and/or other Councilmembers)
