A big THANK YOU to everyone who was able to make it to the transportation master plan meeting last night! We counted at least 250 people in attendance, including about 70 people arriving by bicycle, several others by the OMetro express bus, and at least three city council members.
If you missed the meeting, you can see a video recording of it here. The next step will be for the public to provide comments on the plan and specific projects. Watch for more news on this in the coming week. Mode Shift Omaha will post links to the full project list once it is made available and provide analysis of the document shortly thereafter.
We need as much participation as possible in this process, and especially want to reach out to communities not represented at the meeting last night. Please help out by contacting others and encouraging them to participate. It’s also never too early to start contacting your city council representatives to let them know that you want more choice in transportation in Omaha–or that you have no other choice and NEED better transit and other options to get around town. Here are some tips on why we need change.
Media coverage of the event was not as good as we would have liked, but the meeting did get a mention at least on KETV and the Omaha World Herald. Now would be a great time to send your letters to the media telling them why you think we need more choice in transportation in Omaha.
