From Nebraska Bicycling Alliance:
We could use your support this time for LB 38, which would Increase penalties for motor vehicle homicide, provide penalties for causing serious bodily injury to vulnerable road users, and defines vulnerable road users. The hearing for the bill is scheduled for January 28th, 2015 at 1:30, in the Judiciary Committee in Room 1113, the Ernie Chambers Hearing Room on the southwest side of the Capitol. You are welcome to come to the Capitol and show support. We would greatly appreciate it if you could send an email letter of support to the committee chair. Please send it to Sen. Les Seiler, Chairman at lseiler@leg.ne.gov.
- Indicate in the email that you want your message to be part of the permanent record.
- Be sure and list your name and address or your information will likely be disregarded.
- Indicate why you support this bill and why you think it should pass. Give examples of your own experiences or if you know of someone badly injured or killed by a motorist as a vulnerable road user that may help the cause.
- Send in your support email no later than tomorrow morning (January 28th) before the hearing.
Here is a link to LB 38. Do not confuse LB 38 with LB 39 (bike safety legislation), which had a hearing last week.
